History & atmosphere
Aria opened in late 2009 as the heart of the ambitious CityCenter project — a city within a city that cost around nine billion dollars. Unlike its themed neighbours, Aria bet on contemporary design, glass, sweeping tower curves and cutting-edge technology: the rooms are controlled by automation, and the complex itself holds sustainability certifications. The gaming floor is spacious and bathed in natural light, and the Aria poker room is regarded as one of the best venues in the world, regularly hosting major high-stakes tournaments. It was once home to the spectacular Cirque du Soleil show "Zarkana," and now hosts concerts and residencies. The resort is known for its contemporary public-art collection scattered throughout CityCenter, its Michelin-starred restaurants and its extensive spa. Aria is the choice of those who value minimalism, technology and business polish over the retro glitz of old Vegas. It is the face of a new generation of Strip resorts.
