History & atmosphere
Caesars Palace opened in 1966 and became one of the first themed resorts on the Strip, bringing to life a fantasy of ancient Rome. Marble columns, replicas of classical statues, togas on the waitresses and fountains create an atmosphere of imperial grandeur. Over the decades Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Celine Dion and Adele have performed here — the star residencies at the Colosseum became legends of the world stage. It was at Caesars Palace that Evel Knievel made his famous jump over the fountains in 1967. The gaming floor is enormous: hundreds of tables, high-stakes salons and a spacious poker room. Adjoining the complex are the Forum Shops — one of the most profitable shopping centres in the United States, with an artificial sky that shifts smoothly from dawn to dusk. The casino appears in dozens of films, from "The Hangover" to "Rain Man." It is a Las Vegas classic that unites history with modern chic.
