History & atmosphere
Casino Barrière de Deauville is a gem of the Normandy coast and one of the symbols of the Barrière group. Opened in 1912, this lavish Louis XVI-style building with columns, a dome and stucco set the tone for the entire resort of Deauville, which the aristocracy and Parisian high society adopted as the "21st arrondissement of Paris". The casino is connected to the Normandy hotel and a theatre, and nearby take place the famous American film festival and horse racing at the racecourse. It was here that Claude Lelouch filmed scenes for his cult movie "A Man and a Woman". In the gaming rooms, classic French roulette, baccarat, blackjack and poker sit alongside a large slot-machine hall. The atmosphere blends seaside chic, the wooden boardwalk promenades, fashion-house boutiques and the retro glamour of the Belle Époque, turning gaming into part of a refined resort ritual.
