History & atmosphere
Galaxy Macau is the flagship resort of the local Galaxy Entertainment Group, opened in 2011 and expanded several times since. It is one of Cotai's largest entertainment complexes, bringing together several top-tier hotels — Banyan Tree, Ritz-Carlton, JW Marriott and its own Galaxy Hotel. The resort's calling card is the Grand Resort Deck: an artificial tropical beach with white sand hauled in by the ton, and one of the world's largest wave pools with man-made surf and a rooftop lazy river skyway. The gaming halls under golden domes are decorated in an opulent Oriental style with the Diamond Show fountain, where a giant crystal rises from the floor. Baccarat traditionally rules here, but all the popular Asian and Western games are on offer. Galaxy bet on family leisure and the Asian aesthetic of good fortune, becoming one of the symbols of Macau's golden era as the gambling capital of the planet.
