History & atmosphere

Grand Lisboa is a gold-shimmering skyscraper shaped like a blooming lotus, the most recognizable building in Macau and the flagship of the SJM empire founded by the legendary "king of gambling" Stanley Ho. Opened in 2007, it rose next to the old Hotel Lisboa, which for decades had been the heart of gambling Macau. In the evening its facade of thousands of LEDs turns into a giant light show visible across the whole peninsula. Inside are multi-story halls dominated by baccarat, along with private VIP rooms for high-rollers from mainland China. Grand Lisboa is famous not only for gambling: the lobby displays Stanley Ho's collection, including the famous "Star of Lisboa" diamond and a bronze horse head from the Old Summer Palace. Its restaurants Robuchon au Dôme and The Eight have been awarded three Michelin stars. This is a place that unites the old school of Macau gambling with the luxury of the new century.
