History & atmosphere
MGM National Harbor opened in late 2016 on the picturesque banks of the Potomac River, just a few kilometers from downtown Washington. It is one of the most expensive and stylish resorts on the East Coast: MGM invested around 1.4 billion dollars to create a complex aimed at the affluent public of the capital region. The hotel's curved glass tower offers panoramic views of Washington's monuments, and inside guests find more than 300 luxurious rooms, a spa, a collection of contemporary art and restaurants by renowned chefs, including establishments by José Andrés and the Voltaggio brothers. The gaming floor combines thousands of slot machines, dozens of tables and a high-roller salon, while the 3,000-seat The Theater hosts world-class artists. Thanks to its proximity to Washington, Baltimore and Northern Virginia, National Harbor quickly became the highest-grossing casino in Maryland. It is a showcase of MGM's premium style beyond Las Vegas.
