History & atmosphere
NagaWorld is the only major casino in Cambodia's capital Phnom Penh and for many years a monopolist of the gambling market within a 200-kilometer radius of the city. The complex, operated by NagaCorp, opened in 2003 and has since grown into two buildings — Naga1 and Naga2, connected by an underground shopping gallery with boutiques and restaurants. The golden hotel towers on the banks of the Mekong River have become a prominent part of the cityscape. The casino operates around the clock and is aimed primarily at guests from China and Vietnam: baccarat is the undisputed leader here, and private VIP salons are arranged for high rollers. Beyond gaming, the resort offers hotels, a spa, karaoke, nightclubs and restaurants of Asian and European cuisine. NagaWorld long remained the face of Cambodia's entertainment industry, though in recent years it made headlines over labor disputes. For tourists it is a convenient base in the center of Phnom Penh near the royal palace and the waterfront.
