History & atmosphere

The Venetian opened in 1999 on the site of the demolished legendary Sands hotel and recreated the atmosphere of Venice with astonishing detail. Guests are greeted by replicas of the Doge's Palace, St Mark's Campanile and the Rialto Bridge, while inside the shopping arcade flow real canals along which gondolas glide with singing gondoliers. The hotel was the first in the city where every room is a spacious suite. The gaming floor is vast and luxurious, and together with the neighbouring Palazzo tower under one roof it forms one of the largest resort complexes on the planet. The hotel houses an exhibition centre and a branch of the Madame Tussauds wax museum. In 2022 the operating company passed to the management of Apollo Global Management, and the real estate to the VICI fund. The Venetian is renowned for its concert hall, dining and level of service. It is a corner of romantic Italy in the middle of the Nevada desert.
