A multiplier scales the payout — on a single symbol, across a line, or on the whole spin. The range is enormous: some games offer a modest x2 in the bonus, Gates of Olympus rains down orbs worth up to x500, and cascade releases let the multiplier climb with every link and hold until the round ends. The mechanic travels with high variance almost by definition: the taller the ceiling, the rarer the payout it was built for.
