Casinos in Nigeria: 2026 guide

None of the operators listed below holds a licence of this country — all of them work under foreign licences.

Regulation

Nigeria now regulates gambling at state level. In November 2024 the Supreme Court held that the National Lottery Act 2005 exceeded the powers of the federal parliament, and licensing passed to regional bodies — above all the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority (LSLGA) and the lottery office of the Federal Capital Territory. Online sports betting and online casino play are licensed by the states; since 2025 a mutual recognition scheme allows licences to work across participating states. Land-based casinos operate under state licences. An attempt to centralise regulation through the Central Gaming Bill did not receive presidential assent. The currency is the naira; payments run mainly through bank transfers, cards and local gateways. In Lagos, 5% is withheld from net winnings from 2026. Players should check that an operator holds a valid state licence.
